Over the years Word Factory has assisted with many hundreds of government applications. Quite frequently, on reading the criteria for the position, I have felt compelled to tell my client that I can't take their money because they cannot meet specific essential criteria and it would be unethical for me to go ahead knowing they won't succeed. Government positions have always attracted a huge number of applicants, particularly in certain types of employment, and when a criterion is listed as 'Essential', it means just that. I think there is a big difference between being negative and being realistic. To date, my clients have appreciated my honesty and integrity. After all, I don't want to see them crestfallen when they don't achieve interview, but I also value my reputation for getting people into their dream job.
